Janet J. Giris Partner

Ms. Giris is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and a member of the Land Use and Zoning practice group. Ms. Giris represents real estate owners, developers, retailers and other commercial and not-for profit enterprises. She is well versed in all types of land use applications including complex urban redevelopment projects and the State Environmental Quality Review Act.

Janet has extensive experience in representing owners, developers, and end-users in all aspects of real estate development including actions before local legislatures, planning boards and zoning boards, as well as appeals of municipal decisions and land use litigation. In addition, she represents many clients in connection with Industrial Development Agency projects, including private activity bond financing, economic development programs and other governmental programs.

Janet has served as a Director-at-Large on the Board of the Westchester Municipal Planning Federation since 2014 and currently serves as its First Vice President.  She is involved in many of the Planning Federation’s training programs and is a regular lecturer on zoning and land use matters.

In 2022, Janet was named one of Westfair Publication’s 2022 Persons of the Year.  She has been a Girl Scout leader since 2012, and has mentored Girl Scouts from two troops through Silver and Gold Awards.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Giris was a Deputy Town Attorney with the Town of Greenburgh, New York.
