DelBello Donnellan Weingarten Wise & Wiederkher LLP Advances MGM Empire City Casino Redevelopment Project
Partner Mark Weingarten recently presented MGM Yonkers, Inc.’s comprehensive site plan to the Yonkers Planning Board for the major redevelopment of the Empire City Casino property at 808-812 Yonkers Avenue. The ambitious $500 million project would transform the existing facility into MGM Empire City, a premier gaming and entertainment destination featuring 275,000 square feet of new construction, a state-of-the-art 4,125-seat entertainment venue, expanded gaming areas with table games and high-limit gaming options, multiple new restaurants and a sportsbook venue, and an eight-level parking structure. Our firm is guiding MGM through the critical zoning and land use approval process required by the New York Gaming Commission, with a September 30 deadline for securing all necessary approvals to be considered for one of three downstate Class III gaming licenses that New York state will award in December. This transformative project represents a significant milestone for Yonkers’ largest private employer and will further enhance the region’s economic vitality and entertainment offerings.
